Twenty-three-year-old Tim Nicot becomes the second Belgian footballer within two weeks to die of a cardiac arrest.

A second Belgian footballer has died of a cardiac arrest within the last two weeks.

Tim Nicot, who played in the fourth tier of the Belgian league, collapsed on Friday while playing for Wilrijk-Beerschot.

The 23-year-old was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma, but tragically lost his life on Monday, his club has confirmed.

Last month, Lokeren defender Gregory Mertens died aged 24 of a similar incident when he collapsed on the pitch during a reserve game.
