Alan Shearer, Alastair Cook recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours List

Former England striker Alan Shearer and England cricket captain Alastair Cook are awarded CBEs in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Former England forward Alan Shearer has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his work for charity in the North-East.

The Premier League's all-time top goalscorer, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, is a patron of both the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Alan Shearer Centre, which assists people with disabilities.

England cricket captain Alastair Cook is also recognised for his performances for his national team after recently becoming the first English batsman to hit 10,000 Test runs.

Davis Cup duo Leon Smith and Jamie Murray have earned OBEs, while England bowler Stuart Broad and Chelsea Ladies manager Emma Hayes have been awarded MBEs.
