World number one Tiger Woods says that he felt 'hurt' by Sergio Garcia's "fried chicken" comments.

World number one Tiger Woods has admitted that he felt 'hurt' following Sergio Garcia's controversial comment made at the European Tour Awards dinner.

The Spaniard apologised for saying that he would serve Woods fried chicken if he invited him over for dinner, sparking controversy that his words could be deemed as a racial slur.

Woods wrote on Twitter: "The comment that was made wasn't silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate. I'm confident that there is real regret that the remark was made."

The feud between the pair came to light when Garcia claimed that the pair do not get on off the course.
