Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about his relationship with his father, who passed away 10 years ago.
The three-time Ballon d'Or winner was 20 years old when his father Jose Aveiro died from liver disease cirrhosis.
In a new feature-length documentary titled Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer discussed his dad's alcohol addiction.
"My father was funny when he was drunk, but I didn't get to know him for real, from the heart and I don't know why he drank, maybe he was frustrated with his life," said Ronaldo. "I wanted a different father, one who would be more present to see my achievements."
Ronaldo, who has a close relationship with his mother Dolores, also revealed that he does not have many friends in football and does not "trust that many people".
