Leicester City are reportedly considering a January move for a new goalkeeper as they wait for an update on the groin injury of Mads Hermansen.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing a new first-choice goalkeeper during the January transfer window.

The Foxes are currently battling on without the services of shot-stopper Mads Hermansen, who suffered a groin issue during the 4-0 defeat at Newcastle United in December.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's men have lost each of their last four Premier League contests without the Dane, suffering defeat at Aston Villa most recently in the top flight.

Last picking up maximum points on December 3, Leicester have dropped down to 19th spot in the Premier League table, two points from 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leicester will be looking to drag Crystal Palace back into the relegation dogfight when the two sides met at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.

Leicester to recruit Hermansen replacement this month?

According to Midlands sports reporter Tom Collomosse, Leicester could focus their transfer attentions on a key area of the pitch during this month's window.

The report states that the Foxes are considering a swoop for a new option in between the sticks ahead of the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

It is understood that Leicester are nervously waiting to find out the complete extent of Hermansen's problem, with the 24-year-old missing his side's last five matches across all competitions.

Should the Dane be sidelined for a significant period of time, Van Nistelrooy's troops could be tempted to recruit a replacement in goal.

Hermansen has been the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper in the East Midlands since securing a switch from Brondby in 2023, playing 60 competitive matches.

Who are Leicester's current options in net?

Following Hermansen's injury at St James' Park, Leicester boss Van Nistelrooy placed his trust in veteran shot-stopper Danny Ward for the relegation six-pointer against Wolves just before Christmas.

The Welshman endured a difficult afternoon at the King Power Stadium, concededing three goals and damaging his chances of being the short-term replacement of his Danish counterpart.

Since then, Jakub Stolarczyk has appeared from the fringes of the squad to play a pivotal role for Leicester, starting each of the last four games.

The Pole has performed better than Ward, although it is questionable whether the 24-year-old should be in between the sticks for the remainder of the term should Hermansen's groin problem require lengthy rehabilitation.
