Saracens and England wing Chris Ashton was attacked in a London nightclub on Saturday but managed to escape unharmed, according to reports.
Ashton had gone out in the capital with his Saracens teammates after their 9-9 draw with Leicester Tigers at Wembley.
He took to Twitter on Sunday to reassure fans he did not require any further treatment.
Ashton tweeted: "So, some bloke decided to spoil an evening out for me and my misses. No stitches needed... back to work tomorrow."
Saracens also released a statement to confirm that Ashton is fine and was not the cause of any trouble.
The statement read: "To prevent confusion, the club would like to clarify events surrounding an incident which took place in London on Saturday.
"A brief altercation occurred, which resulted in a friend of this stranger attacking Chris Ashton with a glass.
"People will inevitably see this story and say an England rugby player is in trouble again. For clarity, Chris Ashton is not in trouble at all. On the contrary, he was celebrating an anniversary with his girlfriend and showed admirable restraint."
Ashton signed for Saracens this summer after spending five seasons with the Northampton Saints.
