South Africa's Schalk Burger leaves hospital following two weeks receiving treatment for bacterial meningitis.

South Africa flanker Schalk Burger has been released from hospital following two weeks of treatment for bacterial meningitis.

The 29-year-old contracted the illness in March following an operation on a nerve in his calf muscle.

The player's agent has since confirmed that Burger, who has also had problems with a knee complaint, has been sent home to recuperate, according to Sport Live.

Burger is not expected to begin training for another six weeks.
