Ronald Koeman's Twitter account 'explodes' after Southampton appointment

New Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says that his Twitter account has "exploded" with thousands of new followers after his appointment.

Ronald Koeman's popularity on social media has been boosted after he was appointed as Southampton's new manager.

The 51-year-old, who has managed Ajax and Feyenoord during his career, was confirmed as Mauricio Pochettino's successor on Monday.

Koeman, who put pen to paper on a three-year deal, has received more than 100,000 additional followers on Twitter over the last three days.

He wrote: "My account has clearly exploded! And has now even exceeded 300.000 followers #unbelievable! Thank you all for following me."

The Dutchman's brother Erwin Koeman will be his assistant coach at St Mary's.
