Super League club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that winger Richard Owen has voluntarily checked in to a rehabilitation programme at the Sporting Chance Clinic.
The 25-year-old has made 16 appearances for the Wildcats this season.
Owen will be unavailable for selection for the "foreseeable future".
"The club applauds Richard's initiative in this decision and will continue to fully support Richard throughout this process," read a statement on Wakefield's official website.
The Wildcats currently sit at the bottom of the Super League table following 17 defeats from their opening 20 games of the campaign.
