Natasha Page beats blood clots to compete

Natasha Page competes in the women's eight rowing event tomorrow, just months after blood clots on her lungs threatened her chances to compete.

Natasha Page will compete in the women's eight rowing event tomorrow, just months after it appeared that blood clots in her lungs would derail her Olympic dreams.

The 27-year-old will compete in the same event in which she finished fifth in Beijing, but she was nearly forced to miss London 2012 after being diagnosed with blood clots on her lungs in November.

Page told ThisisGloucestershire: "The blood clots on the lungs were very scary but it is a big relief to finally be at the Games.

"Two months ago, I thought there was a chance I would not make the team, so it is just really exciting and I am trying to make the most of it and really enjoy it."

The women's eight won World Championship bronze last year, also achieving bronze in the final World Cup regatta before the Olympics.
