Daryl Powell praises "tremendous" Castleford Tigers effort

Daryl Powell insists that his Castleford Tigers side will take all that they have learnt this season into their playoff meeting against St Helens next weekend.

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has admitted that he is "disappointed" to have seen his side narrowly miss out on the League Leaders' Shield for the first time in the club's history.

Victory for the Tigers today over Catalan Dragons would have been enough to see them finish top of the Super League table, but they fell to a 28-6 reverse in Perpignan.

"Obviously we are disappointed, but we are also delighted that we have finished in the top four, it has been a tremendous effort from the players," Sky Sports News quotes Powell as saying.

"Now we have to show how tough we are as a group and we have to make sure that the bonds that we have built up over the past year work for us in the coming weeks."

Castleford will come up against St Helens in the playoffs next weekend.
