Ireland suffered their fourth consecutive World Cup warm-up defeat after losing 20-9 to England in Dublin.
Martin Johnson's side went ahead when Manu Tuilagi out-ran Keith Earls to touch down, with Johnny Wilkinson converting.
The hosts got their first points on the board soon after when Ronan O'Gara lofted a penalty between the posts.
Wilkinson extended his side's lead with another penalty of his own after good work from England's pack.
The afternoon got worse for Ireland when flanker David Wallace was stretchered off with a knee injury that will rule him out of the World Cup.
O'Gara bagged his second penalty to reduce the deficit, before Wilkinson stretched the visitors' lead to 13-6 at half-time.
Another O'Gara penalty after the break edged Ireland closer to their opponents, but Delon Armitage put the match out of reach for the Irish when he latched on to Mike Tindall's kick to score.
England begin their World Cup campaign against Argentina on Saturday, September 10, while Ireland face the USA the following day.
