Ireland's Sean O'Brien cited for 'striking' France's Pascal Pape

Ireland flanker Sean O'Brien is cited for appearing to strike France's Pascal Pape during their Rugby World Cup match at the weekend.

Ireland flanker Sean O'Brien has been cited for appearing to punch France second row Pascal Pape during Sunday's Rugby World Cup match at the Millennium Stadium.

The 28-year-old was not punished during the game, which resulted in a 24-9 victory for Ireland, who ended their pool campaign with a 100% record.

However, the flanker now faces a ban as World Rugby have opted to take retrospective action against the player for appearing to strike his opponent during the match.

Ireland finished four points above France in Pool D.
