London Welsh hooker Neil Briggs has been cited for alleged foul play for an incident involving Harlequins back Sam Smith during last Sunday's Premiership clash.

Briggs is reported to have struck Smith during the meeting at the Kassam Stadium, where Harlequins emerged with a 31-26 victory.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea criticised the referee for his performance during the clash, but the result still left them top of the Aviva Premiership table.

The case will be heard on Tuesday evening by a three-man Rugby Football Union panel.
