Australia's Ben Treffers wins gold in the men's backstroke, narrowly edging out teammate Mitch Larkin and England's Liam Tancock.

Australia's Ben Treffers has clinched the gold medal in the men's 50m backstroke at the Commonwealth Games.

The 22-year-old claimed the title in a time of 24.67 seconds to secure his first medal of the Games.

Treffers's teammate Mitch Larkin won a surprise silver medal, while Team England's Liam Tancock earned the bronze as he recorded a time of 24.98s.

England's Chris Walker-Hebborn narrowly missed out on a medal as he placed in fourth, and Wales's Marco Loughran finished in sixth.
