Francesca Halsall missed out on a medal at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona after finishing fourth in the 50m butterfly.
The British record holder clocked a time of 25.70 seconds to finish 0.17 of the podium with Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen Gray winning ahead of China's Lu Ying and Ranomi Kromowidjojo.
"I just wanted to swim my own race and did a PB yesterday. I knew I was swimming fast and was there or thereabouts. These things happen," she told BBC Sport.
Halsall has competed at the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
