Spain miss out on synchronised swimming medal at Baku 2015, Russia win gold

Russian Federation take gold in the synchronised swimming duets free routine at Baku 2015, but Spain - among the favourites to win - finish outside of the medal positions.

Great Britain's Jodie Cowie and Genevieve Randall have finished in 12th place in the synchronised swimming duets free routine at the European Games.

The Team GB pair, both aged 17, finished with a score of 144.5659 at the Baku Aquatics Centre to end bottom of the pile.

There was little surprise at the other end of the standings as Russian Federation duo Valeriya Filenko and Daria Kulagina, who came out on top in qualifying on the weekend, added a European Games gold to their World Junior Championships success of last year.

Anna-Maria Alexandri and Eirini-Marina Alexandri of Austria took silver, meanwhile, but Spain missed out on a share of the medals after being outscored by the Ukraine's Yana Nariezhna and Yelyzaveta Yakhno.
