Great Britain's double-gold medallist Ellie Simmonds has admitted that she "gave it everything" in her quest for her third gold tonight but it was not to be.
Simmonds lost to a world record swim from Victoria Arlen of United States and said that she "would have loved" the gold medal to add to her collection.
"I gave it everything," Simmonds said. "In that last 50m I could see her but I just didn't have anything left.
"I would have loved to get gold but I can't have everything!"
This evening's swimming action has seen Great Britain drop to third in the medal table, behind Russian Federation.
