Juan Martin del Potro moves into the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open by seeing off Feliciano Lopez in three sets.

Juan Martin del Potro has secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open by defeating Feliciano Lopez 6-4 1-6 6-4.

The Argentinian started off strongly by nabbing an early break of serve, but Lopez was able to hold his own by winning his service games.

Despite some strong shots across the court, Lopez was unable to snatch a crucial break in order to mount a challenge for the first set.

However, the second set was a different story as Lopez broke early and dominated the court, leaving Del Potro struggling to keep his momentum and could only get one game on the board.

After his slump in the second set, Del Potro began the third strongly by taking a 3-0 lead. Despite Lopez fighting back, Del Potro had just enough to wrap up the victory.
