Dutch wheelchair tennis player Esther Vergeer wins her fourth singles Paralympic gold medal after defeating Aniek van Koot in straight sets.

Netherlands' female wheelchair tennis player Esther Vergeer has picked up her fourth consecutive Paralympic gold medal after defeating her compatriot Aniek van Koot with ease.

Vergeer, who has not been beaten since January 2003, completely dominated the final and claimed the first set without losing a break 6-0.

The 31-year-old continued to take control of the court in the second set and while Van Koot tried to force a comeback, it wasn't enough to trouble her compatriot, who snatched the victory 6-3.

Vergeer's unbeaten record of 470 games is the second-longest behind squash legend Jahangir Khan, who managed to avoid defeat in 555 games.
