Philipp Kohlschreiber wins in Qatar

Philipp Kohlschreiber overcomes the challenge of Pablo Andujar to reach the second round of the Qatar Open.

Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber booked his place in round two of the Qatar Open this afternoon thanks to a 7-6 6-2 victory over Pablo Andujar.

Neither player was able to make a decisive impact during the opening set, which resulted in a tie-break being required to determine a victor.

That was equally tight, but Kohlschreiber eventually won through 9-7.

It proved to be the turning point of the match, as Kohlschreiber broke his Spanish opponent on two occasions during the next set to seal his slot in the second round.
