Andreas Seppi has reached the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters with a narrow three-sets victory over Stanislas Wawrinka.
In a tight opening set which saw both players drop a service game, world number 20 Wawrinka dominated the tie-break as he took it 7-1.
It was much the same story in the second, but it was Seppi this time who triumphed in the tie-break with a tense 8-6 triumph.
Despite being broken in the deciding set, Wawrinka took two service games from Seppi to give himself the chance to serve out the match. However, Seppi managed to claw back another service game to put himself back in contention and take it to a final tie-break.
After finding himself 3-6 down, world number 30 Seppi staged a remarkable comeback as he won the next five points to book his place in the last 16.
