Richard Gasquet delighted to reach last four of Wimbledon

Richard Gasquet expresses his delight after booking his place in the semi-finals of Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Richard Gasquet has expressed his delight at booking his place in the last four of Wimbledon after he beat Stanislas Wawrinka on Wednesday.

The Frenchman eventually edged out the world number four 4-6 6-4 6-3 4-6 9-11 in a five-set thriller on Court No.1, and he revealed his frustration after letting a 5-3 lead slip in the final set.

He told BBC Sport: "It was very tough when [I saw my lead slip at] 5-3, there was some mistakes and he played well, but I got frustrated after that because I could finish at 6-3, but then it is tough because he has a big serve and big confidence after winning in Paris [at the French Open].

"I tried to fight and fight and keep my serve and the last point was incredible because he missed his backhand of course.

"It was a quarter-final and of course I wanted to win, and after 5-3, it would have been difficult to take to lose so I am really happy with how I played. Of course [mental strength] was needed. It was a battle today and I am delighted to win."

Gasquet will meet Novak Djokovic in the final four.
