Novak Djokovic beats Bernard Tomic in straight sets

Defending champion Novak Djokovic eases to a straight-sets win over Australia's Bernard Tomic in the third round at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic has cruised into the fourth round at Wimbledon with a 6-3 6-3 6-3 win over Australian 27th seed Bernard Tomic on Centre Court.

Tomic went on the attack early on, forcing Djokovic to deuce on serve in just the third game of the match as he tried to edge ahead against the defending champion, but the world number one held before racing to a 3-1 lead.

The Australian, who is a former hitting partner of Djokovic, did not come close to getting the break back, allowing the Serb to serve it out shortly after.

Djokovic had a break on the board early in the second as his continued to force errors from Tomic, with one break once again proving enough for the top seed to claim the set.

Tomic battled hard to keep himself in the third, holding his first two service games, but Djokovic broke midway through to leave himself serving for the match with a 5-3 lead, and he wrapped it up with ease.

The two-time champion will face 14th seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa in the next match.
