Russian duo win figure skating gold

Russia's Tatiana Volosozha and Maxim Trankov take gold in the pairs figure skating.

Tatiana Volosozha and Maxim Trankov have won gold for Russia in the pairs figure skating at the Winter Olympics in Sochi this evening.

It is the duo's second victory of the Games, following their success in the team tournament at the weekend.

Compatriots Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov made it a Russian 1-2, while Germany's Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy had to settle for third after they both fell during their long programme.

The result gives Russia their fifth win in the event in the last six Games.
