Team GB's Jenna McCorkell: 'Footwear will make a difference'

Great Britain figure skater Jenna McCorkell is hopeful that she will reap better rewards in her individual event with a chance of footwear in Sochi.

Great Britain figure skater Jenna McCorkell is hopeful that a change in footwear will bring her a better result when she competes for the second time in the Winter Olympics.

The 27-year-old's first experience of the Games four years ago ended in heartbreak as she fell in her opening routine, ending her competition.

McCorkell told The Mirror: "The boot I had been wearing on my right was too tight. It was crushing my foot. I had been overcompensating with the take-offs of my jumps, which, in turn, was causing problems in my back.

"Now that is all sorted I have been able to train consistently and achieve better results in competitions."

McCorkell finished in 10th place in the team event earlier in the Games, and will continue her Olympics later today in the ladies short programme.
