Jenna McCorkell remaining positive ahead of short program event

Team GB's Jenna McCorkell insists that she will use her experience in order to progress from the figure skating short program event.

Great Britain figure skater Jenna McCorkell has insisted that she will use all of her experience to progress through to Thursday's free skate event.

The 27-year-old, who is an 11-time British ladies champion, takes part in the short program later today looking to advance to the next stage.

McCorkell finished last in the team skating event a fortnight ago and admitted that there are improvements to be made.

"There is room to improve for the individual event and I was excited to go back to work in training but I can't wait to get out again," the Northern Ireland-born skater is quoted as saying by teamgb.com. "The two biggest elements are at the start of my programme. We've got to improve the spins and we can work on the technical side of things.

"The experience has been fantastic so far, I've had so much support, it gives you such a lift. I've got a lot of cards with me and I took a look at them before I left and knew they were with me. I'm very happy that I finally really enjoyed an Olympic skate and hopefully there are two more performances like that to come."

The figure skating event gets underway at 3pm.
