An airplane was forced to land in Turkey earlier today after an alleged hijacking attempt in connection to the Sochi Winter Olympics, according to reports.
An individual reportedly sought to divert the airliner to the Russian resort, where the 2014 Winter Olympic ceremony began at 8.14pm local time.
The Pegasus Airlines flight, which departed from Kharkov, Ukraine, is currently being held in a 'safe zone' at an airport in Istanbul, according to CNN.
