Chelsea reportedly end their pursuit of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Chelsea have reportedly ended their pursuit of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

The Blues have been linked with the Argentine since Maurizio Sarri's arrival at the club, with the pair having worked together at Napoli.

Sarri is still eager to reunite with Higuain as he looks for a new striker during the January transfer window, but Goal.com reports that Chelsea have now formally ended their interest in him.

The complexity of any deal is understood to be the main reason behind their decision, as Chelsea would have to negotiate with both Juventus and AC Milan in order to secure Higuain's signature.

Juventus recently ruled out the prospect of Higuain moving to Stamford Bridge this month, with Milan having an agreement to buy the 31-year-old for £32m at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri have already paid £16m for the original loan, although Higuain's performances at San Siro have been underwhelming so far, having scored eight goals in 20 appearances across all competitions.

Chelsea will now look elsewhere in their search for a striker as Sarri is unsatisfied with his current options of Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata.
