Early Olivier Giroud goals seal France win in Denmark

Olivier Giroud scores twice in as many minutes as France beat Denmark in an international friendly in Copenhagen.

Olivier Giroud scored two goals in the first six minutes as France stepped up their preparations for Euro 2016 with a win over Denmark in Copenhagen.

The Danes, who were consigned to a playoff after Albania beat them to automatic qualification from Group I, fell behind after Anthony Martial deft pass allowed Giroud to run in behind the home side's defence before his shot slipped under the body of Kasper Schmeichel.

Within moments, Les Bleus had doubled their lead as Lucas Digne hooked a cross into the path of Giroud, whose initial half-volley was parried by Schmiechel before the Arsenal forward seized on the rebound to score.

Denmark almost pulled a goal back on 28 minutes when Michael Krohn-Dehli teed up Christian Eriksen, but the Tottenham Hotspur playmaker's shot was straight at Steve Mandanda.

However, France refused to sit back on their two-goal lead and could have added a third when a counter attack led to Martial finding space for a shot on the edge of the box, only to blaze his strike over the crossbar.

Les Bleus pressed again on 66 minutes and Giroud found himself in behind the Danish backline once more, but with only the keeper to beat, his lob was parried away by Schmiechel.

Alexandre Lacazette also tried to get in on the action with a late goal, but it was Denmark who scored the third goal of the evening through Erik Sviatchenko in stoppage time.

However, despite the late effort from the Danes, Les Bleus were able to hold on for victory at the Parken Stadium.
