Mason Greenwood is reportedly hoping to play for Manchester United again in the future, with the 21-year-old securing a loan move to Getafe on deadline day.

Mason Greenwood is reportedly determined to play for Manchester United again in the future after securing a loan switch to Getafe on deadline day.

The 21-year-old is set for a return to competitive football after an 18-month absence due to accusations of attempted rape and the subsequent trial period.

Greenwood has seen all charges against him dropped, allowing the forward to find a place at which to reinvigorate his career in the 2023-24 campaign.

It was announced on Friday that the Red Devils academy graduate would be moving to La Liga outfit Getafe on a season-long loan, with the Spanish club holding holding no option or obligation to sign him permanently next summer.

According to The Sun, Greenwood has not given up on making a shock return to first-team action at Manchester United, despite Erik ten Hag's side announcing that the attacker would never play for the club again.

The report claims that the Englishman wants to repay United for their faith in him, with the Red Devils yet to terminate his contract which is set to expire in 2025.

It is understood that Man United will support Greenwood as he aims to make an eventual return to the Premier League, whether that be at Old Trafford or for another club.

The one-time England international was attracting interest from around the football world this summer, with teams in the Saudi Pro League keen on the forward, however many involved in the Middle East were concerned about how the possible arrival of the player would impact the division's reputation.

Serie A outfit Lazio were also in a race to sign Greenwood before the end of the transfer window on Friday, but the Italians were unable to get a loan move over the line.

The Biancocelesti's president Claudio Lotito has openly blamed Man United for the collapse of the deal on deadline day, with the Red Devils supposedly failing to exchange the necessary documents.

It is believed that Greenwood would have favoured a move to Lazio, however the 21-year-old must now make the most of his time in La Liga with Getafe.

Pepe Bordalas's men had their hearts broken at the Bernabeu on Saturday, with a last-minute winner from Jude Bellingham snatching all three points, despite the visitors taking a first-half lead courtesy of Borja Mayoral.

El Geta return to action after the international break by hosting Osasuna at Coliseum Alfonso Perez - a game in which Greenwood could make his debut for the club.
