Harry Kane's six greatest goals for Tottenham Hotspur

Having cemented his place as Tottenham Hotspur's greatest ever goalscorer, Sports Mole picks out Harry Kane's six best strikes for the club.

Out of the record-breaking 267 goals that Harry Kane has scored for Tottenham Hotspur over the course of nearly 12 years, some world-class strikes stand out head and shoulders above the rest.

The England captain's landmark goal against Manchester City at the weekend was a simple one by his standards, as Spurs capitalised on a defensive mistake for Kane to slot home with panache.

However, spectacular long-range efforts have been customary for Kane in years gone by, and Tottenham fans should witness at least a couple more eye-catching stunners from the 29-year-old, even if he does end up leaving to pursue trophies elsewhere sooner rather than later.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at six of Kane's greatest competitive goals from his all-time high 267 in a Tottenham shirt.

6. Wolverhampton Wanderers - December 29, 2018

The less said about the full-time result for Tottenham the better, but when Wolverhampton Wanderers paid a visit to Wembley in December 2018, Harry Kane would break the deadlock in magnificent style for the hosts.

As Wolves tried to progress into the Tottenham half, a Harry Winks barge on Ivan Cavaleiro went unpunished, and the ball broke kindly for Son Heung-min, who immediately played in Kane before continuing his run.

Rather than cross for Son, Kane ignored his teammate's darting run into the box, as he cut inside from the right and unleashed a fierce left-footed effort that was too hot for Rui Patricio to handle.

The Wolves goalkeeper got a hand to his effort but could only succeed in pushing the ball further into the top corner, although Spurs would go on to suffer a second-half collapse and eventually lose 3-1.

5. Everton - March 5, 2017

Tottenham's final season at White Hart Lane would not be complete without a sumptuous effort from Kane, and the Spurs talisman provided exactly that when Everton made the trip to the capital in March 2017.

After a goalless first 20 minutes, play progressed down the left-hand side for Tottenham, and Kane came close to Ben Davies to receive the ball from the Welshman while fending off the attention of Ashley Williams.

Williams would do enough to force Kane back towards the halfway line, but the striker would cut back inside, and Everton's defensive efforts only succeeded in creating space for Kane to have a go from 30 yards.

The Spurs man wilfully obliged - sending a scorching effort into the bottom corner beyond the reach of Joel Robles - and he would end the day with a brace to his name in a nervy 3-2 success for Tottenham.

4. Arsenal - March 5, 2016

It would not be a Kane compilation without a peach of a North London derby goal, and the England skipper produced arguably the finest of his 14 goals against bitter rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane in March 2016.

Donning a protective mask after breaking his nose a couple of weeks beforehand, Kane witnessed Aaron Ramsey give Arsenal the lead before Toby Alderweireld levelled proceedings on the hour mark.

Just two minutes after Alderweireld's response, Dele Alli managed to keep the ball in play on the left, taking Per Mertesacker out of the game and opening up space for Kane to bend a brilliant angled effort into the far corner from the edge of the box.

The striker's wonderful goal sent Tottenham fans into pandemonium, but the 10-man Gunners would come back to steal a point through Alexis Sanchez and deny Spurs the chance to rise to the top of the Premier League table.

3. Burnley - December 7, 2019

A fifth-minute goal to set Spurs on their way to a five-star performance against Burnley in December 2019, Kane early wonder strike was the catalyst for a 5-0 Tottenham win in front of their own fans.

Unsurprisingly linking up with deadly double act partner Son, the latter met Alderweireld's lofted ball over the top, and his delicate first touch found Kane in acres of space inside the Burnley half.

The striker continued his run, Burnley backed off, and by the time Ben Mee had tried to position himself to block the inevitable long-range Kane strike, it was too late.

From a good 25 yards, Kane sent a thunderbolt beyond the reach of Nick Pope to open the scoring, and he ended the game with a brace and assist to his name in a routine Lilywhites victory.

2. Everton - September 9, 2017

Only six months after being subjected to a Kane stunner at White Hart Lane, Everton fell victim to the Englishman's 100th goal for Tottenham in all competitions, but even he admitted that his landmark goal was nothing but a fluke - albeit a spectacular fluke.

Kane could not bring down Davies's overhit corner at Goodison Park, but Kieran Trippier was on hand to keep the attack alive, and the right-back quickly passed the ball to Kane before continuing his run on the overlap.

Rather than play a one-two with his teammate - whose crossing capabilities have shone through this season with Newcastle United - Kane whipped the ball back into the area himself, but not a single soul was expecting the striker's looping delivery to fly over Jordan Pickford and nestle into the side of the net.

Kane was quick in labelling his 100th Tottenham goal a "lucky" one, but fortune favours the brave, and that opening strike in a 3-0 win for the Lilywhites was a sensational one regardless.

1. Crystal Palace - March 7, 2021

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, no fans were present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to witness Kane score a magnificent first-time effort in a 4-1 thumping of Crystal Palace in March 2021.

Having already provided two assists for Gareth Bale, Kane swapped his playmaking abilities for goalscoring capabilities, but not before dropping deep to spark another Spurs attack with a clever pass to Lucas Moura.

As Kane charged forward, the ball worked its way to Matt Doherty on the right, and Kane took up a smart position on the edge of the box as the now-Atletico Madrid man played the ball back to him.

The 29-year-old did not even need to take touch before bending an astounding strike into the top corner, and Palace's players could do little but watch the ball sail past Vicente Guaita before Kane grabbed his second of the day late on.

Honourable mention - Juventus - July 21, 2019

Had this goal been scored in a competitive context, it would have undoubtedly topped our list of Kane's greatest-ever strikes for Tottenham, but this long-range stunner is in a category of its own.

In the summer of 2019, Tottenham met Italian giants Juventus in an International Champions Cup match, where a 2-2 draw was seemingly on the cards following strikes from Erik Lamela, Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lucas.

However, with three minutes of stoppage time on the clock, Adrien Rabiot was caught unawares on the halfway line, and Lucas quickly stole in to poke the ball in Kane's direction.

Channelling his inner Wayne Rooney, Xabi Alonso and David Beckham, Kane - under pressure from Merih Demiral - immediately launched the ball forward while still inside the centre circle with Wojciech Szczesny off his line.

The former Arsenal keeper scrambled back towards his own goal, but it was a fruitless endeavour, as Kane's strike sailed into the back of the net to seal victory for the Lilywhites and stun the Singapore crowd.
