New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has described quarterback Geno Smith's performance in their pre-season win over the New York Giants as "the good, the bad and the ugly".
Second-round draft selection, Smith, threw three interceptions and conceded a safety when he ran out of the back endzone, however, he also threw one touchdown in the 24-21 win.
"With Geno, there was the good, the bad and the ugly. I think the ugly was the safety. The bad was the interceptions," Ryan told reporters.
"But there was a lot of good, too. And I think his decision making during the game, there were a lot of positives there.
"Sometimes the numbers might be a little bit disordered. I think there were four or five drops in the game as well, which might have helped his case a little bit."
Ryan has yet to confirm whether Smith or Mark Sanchez will be his starting quarterback this season.
