Darren McFadden has been listed as doubtful for the Oakland Raiders' game against the San Diego Chargers this weekend.
The running back strained his hamstring in the first half against the Washington Redskins last week.
The 26-year-old told ESPN: "I think [sitting out is] going to help me out a whole lot. But at the same time we're just taking it day-to-day right now.
"Just walking around and stuff you can feel it a little bit. It's tight, sore, so hamstrings are one of those things you want to be careful with. I'd rather miss one or two games than to come back and pop it and miss four or five.
"Like I said, we're going to take it day to day and if I come in here and run like I need to [later today] then you'll see me out there Sunday."
McFadden has missed 14 of the Raiders' last 33 games through injury.
