Robert Griffin III: 'My job is to play'

Robert Griffin III says he was the best option for the Washington Redskins, despite carrying a knee injury.

Robert Griffin III has defended his involvement in the Washington Redskins' loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL playoffs.

The quarterback has been carrying a knee sprain for the last month, which was aggravated early in yesterday's game.

The rookie continued to play for much of the game, but was unable to finish, after twisting the injured joint awkwardly.

The 22-year-old told reporters: "Coming off the field, I thought it was the same thing. Right now, we'll see.

"I'm the quarterback of this team. My job is to be out there if I can play. I'm the best option for this team. That's why I'm the starter."

The Redskins are yet to give an update on the extent of the injury.
