Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith has edged through to the final of the women's 200m as a fastest loser.
After finishing in fourth place in a stacked first semi-final which included Dafne Schippers and Elaine Thompson, it appeared that the 20-year-old would miss out on her second global final in the space of 12 months after she qualified for the World Championship final last year.
However, neither of the third-place finishers in the second or third semi-finals clocked faster than 22.49s, meaning that the British athlete will feature in either lane one or two in the final.
In the second semi-final, Williams was drawn on the inside lane and could only finish in eighth position.
