Gail Emms: 'South Koreans, Chinese trying to lose'

Gail Emms claims that players from China and South Korea attempted to lose a match at Wembley Arena in an attempt to be given a better draw later in the event.

Gail Emms has claimed that teams from China and South Korea both attempted to lose during a group match at the Olympics on Tuesday evening.

The Korean team of Jung Ke and Kim Hn beat Xiaoli Wang and Yang Yu 21-14, 21-11 but fans at Wembley Arena jeered for the majority of the match due to the obvious poor quality.

Emms has revealed that both teams wanted to lose in order to receive a favourable draw later in the event.

The 2004 Olympic silver medalist posted on Twitter: "Ok on court 2 was WD china vs Korea. Both pairs TRYING to lose!!! This is why the group system DOESN'T work!!! Tactically play for a gd draw.

"In the knockout stages. And I don't blame the them!! U can exploit the system! In the end china lost!! At 1 point all 4 women...

"Were serving deliberately out! Incredible scenes and crowd have been booing!"

Emms won silver for Great Britain eight years ago with partner Nathan Robertson.
