England's Rajiv Ouseph: 'Kieran Merrilees match will be tough'

England's Rajiv Ouseph admits that it will be tough for him to face his friend Scotland's Kieran Merrilees in the quarter-finals of the men's badminton at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England badminton player Rajiv Ouseph has admitted that it will be difficult to face his friend Scotland's Kieran Merrilees in their quarter-final clash at the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old booked his place in the last eight of the competition with a comfortable victory over Singapore's Chao Huang in straight sets.

He told reporters: "It will be quite a different experience, I have played him quite a few times in tournaments and practice but not in a place like this, the crowd are going to get really into it.

"I will hopefully be able to try and use a bit of my experience to get through it. It will be difficult to try and put our friendship aside, to try and be professional and get the win tomorrow.

"Kieran and I have roomed together before, it's always difficult to play someone you train with and are good friends with."

Ouseph faces Merrilees in their last-eight match on Friday.
