New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has insisted that he believes he is the most underrated star in the NBA but he claims that he will gain respect in time.
The 30-year-old opted to re-sign with the Knicks this summer and has publicly insisted that he is confident he will be able to enjoy success with the franchise in the coming years.
However, when asked whether the reason behind him being underrated is because he hasn't won a championship yet, he laughed it off and insisted that he isn't too worried by it.
"I think I'm the most underrated superstar that's out there, but that doesn't matter to me," Anthony said, according to ESPN.
"So as far as caring about if I'm underrated as a superstar, and getting the respect I deserve, I don't worry about that. In due time if everything goes well, I will get it."
Anthony won the NBA scoring title in 2013 and came second to Kevin Durant last season, but in 10 attempts in the playoffs, he has gone further than the second round on just one occasion.
However, despite testing free agency this summer and visiting the likes of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony will look to eventually fulfil his ambition of winning a championship with the Knicks after signing a five-year deal.
