The New York Knicks have confirmed that Carmelo Anthony has agreed a deal to return to the club.
Anthony announced on Sunday that he was staying with the franchise after initially opting out of his deal at the end of the season.
Knicks president Phil Jackson revealed that the team and the 30-year-old have managed to come to an agreement on a long-term deal and are hopeful that they can build the side around the forward.
He told reporters: "After three months of questions around Carmelo Anthony's return to the New York Knicks we are now happy to know that we have the cornerstone of what we envision as a 'team of excellence'.
"Steve Mills and I have assured Carmelo through our conversations, that we share the vision and the determination to build this team."
Anthony has been named an NBA All-Star seven times in his career.
