Kevin Durant undergoes successful surgery on injured foot

Kevin Durant undergoes surgery on his injured foot, and will be re-evaluated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in six weeks.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have confirmed that the surgery to repair Kevin Durant's injured foot was successful.

It was revealed on the weekend that the NBA's MVP had been struck down by a Jones fracture, which is a broken bone at the bottom of the small toe.

Initial reports suggested that Durant is likely to be out of action for around eight weeks, but the Thunder have stopped short of setting a date for his return and will re-evaluate his condition in six weeks.

Oklahoma begin the new season against the Portland Trail Blazers on October 29.
