Kalle Sauerland has revealed that Tyson Fury and David Price could take each other on in 2014.
The German promoter says that the emerging heavyweights need to wait for one more year to face off in the ring as a premature fight could have an adverse effect on their careers.
"I don't want to put a dampener on it for the fans, but I don't know why they've got to box at this stage," Boxingscene.com quotes him as saying.
"There are so many big fights that can be made in the future. Give it some time, the Klitschkos aren't getting stronger, there's only one left most likely.
"This country is blessed with an abundance of heavyweight talent coming through, so why risk it now? In a year's time the division is going to be so exciting."
Fury is the current Irish heavyweight champion, while Price is unbeaten as a professional at the age of 29.
