Nicholas Walters has failed to make weight for his fight with Miguel Marriaga, which has resulted in the Jamaican being stripped of his WBA featherweight title.
The 29-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the biggest punchers in the world, came in 1.4lbs above the 126lbs limit, and although he was given time to lose weight, he could only get down to 127lbs.
Saturday's fight, which is being staged at Madison Square Garden in New York, will still go ahead with the belt only being on the line for Marriaga.
Before being stripped of his title, Walters had made three successful defences, the last of which came against Nonito Donaire in October.
