Amir Khan outpoints Luis Collazo in Las Vegas

Britain's Amir Khan returns to form after outpointing Luis Collazo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Great Britain's Amir Khan has won his first fight as a welterweight after outpointing Luis Collazo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Khan was disciplined throughout the 12 rounds and floored his American opponent in the fourth and twice in the 10th as Collazo struggled to cope with the speed of the Bolton fighter.

The judges scored the fight 117-106, 119-104, 119-104 in Khan's favour, and the win puts a dream fight with Floyd Mayweather, who beat Marcos Maidana on the same card at the MGM Grand, back in contention.

Anthony Ogogo had preserved his unbeaten record earlier in the evening with a stoppage victory over Jonel Tapia.
