Manchester hosts the fourth Ashes Test next month.

Fresh from his Headingley triumph, Ben Stokes heads to Old Trafford with England to continue the pursuit of the Ashes.

Here, the PA news agency takes a look at the all-rounder's international record in Manchester.

Two matches: 115 runs at 38.33, two wickets at 60.00

Stokes has played two previous Tests at the home of Lancashire, against Pakistan in 2016 and South Africa the following summer.

He contributed a useful 34 in support of Joe Root's 254 as England made 589 for eight in their first innings against Pakistan, before removing Younis Khan for one and ending Sarfaraz Ahmed's counter-attack at 26 in the tourists' first innings. He was wicketless in the second, having not batted as England declared on 173 for one.

The South Africa clash brought him a score of 58 as he put on 65 with Jonny Bairstow. Though wicketless, he took three slip catches off Moeen Ali's bowling and a stunner at gully of Stuart Broad to remove Kagiso Rabada.

Five matches: 86 runs at 21.50, three wickets at 42.33

Stokes' only Old Trafford encounters with Australia have come in the 50-over format. His involvement was limited, though he top-scored with 42 as England otherwise folded to 138 all out in September 2015.

His best international bowling figures at the venue came in 2017 against the West Indies, when he took three for 43 in nine overs – including his old adversary Marlon Samuels – before thumping 23 not out off 10 balls including a six for the winning runs. Against Afghanistan during this year's World Cup, Stokes was overshadowed by Eoin Morgan's fireworks.

Twenty20 internationals

Two games: 28 runs at 28.00, two wickets at 22.00

Both facets of Stokes' game were on show against New Zealand in 2015, when he hit an unbeaten 24 off 13 balls in England's 191 for seven before taking two for 24 to help bowl the Black Caps out for 135.

There was no repeat against Pakistan the following year, Stokes scoring four and bowling two overs for 20 as England were well beaten by nine wickets.
