Kevin Pietersen and the English and Wales Cricket Board will appear together at a press conference in Sri Lanka this morning to release a statement regarding the batsman's future.
Pietersen and representatives of the board will address the media at 11.30am UK time, when the 32-year-old is reportedly expected to announce his return to the England side.
The batsman was originally snubbed from the squad after admitting that he had sent 'derogatory' text messages to members of the South Africa squad about his England teammates.
Pietersen's central contract with the national side expired two days ago and it is believed that the ECB will confirm details of a new deal for the batsman.
Pietersen, who has been in Sri Lanka commentating on the World Twenty20 Cup, could be a late inclusion to the England squad for their tour of India later this month after initially being left out of the team.
