Dean Cosker to stay at Glamorgan beyond 20th season

Veteran spinner Dean Cosker signs a two-year contract extension at Glamorgan as he prepares for his 20th season with the Welsh county.

Dean Cosker has signed a contract to remain at Glamorgan beyond his 20th season with the county.

The left-arm spinner, 37, helped the Welsh outfit to their last County Championship triumph in 1997 and two National League titles in the mid-2000s.

Cosker, who has taken 589 first-class wickets at an average of 35.70 since debuting in 1996, is relishing his role as a senior player at the Swalec Stadium and hopes that he can use his experience to help develop the club's youngsters.

He is quoted by WalesOnline as saying: "This is very good news for myself it is really humbling to sign an extension to my contract with Glamorgan until 2016 and spend a further two seasons at the club that I really enjoy playing for.

"We've got some talented young spinners coming through the system so there is competition for places.

"I hope my role along with Robert Croft will be to try and nurture the next generation of spin bowlers at the club and soon replicate the partnership I enjoyed with Robert in the early 2000s."

Cosker took 42 first-class wickets at an average of 28.16 last season - his best figures since 2010.
