Sir Bradley Wiggins to miss road races at Commonwealth Games

Sir Bradley Wiggins confirms that he will not take part in any of the road races at the Commonwealth Games.

Sir Bradley Wiggins has confirmed that he will not be taking part in the road races at the Commonwealth Games.

The Olympic time trial champion, who was left out of Team Sky's squad for the Tour de France, admitted that his only focus has been on delivering success in the team pursuit in Glasgow.

"All the preparation has been for the team pursuit and that has been the focus in training," Wiggins told reporters. "I've put all my eggs in the one basket.

"It was the perfect distraction to the Tour really. It was like going back 15 years, with the excitement of building my bike again and waiting for the other guys to come in to train. It was really refreshing and enjoyable.

"It's the one I had the most success in before I went to road cycling, and it's the only one that is still in the Olympics."

The team pursuit takes place on Thursday.
