Charlotte Worthington has performed the first ever back-flip 360 to claim BMX freestyle gold for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 25-year-old, who up until recently was working as a chef in Manchester for her day job, fluffed her lines in the first run to allow American favourite Hannah Roberts to come out and deliver a 96.10 for a seemingly locked-on gold medal.
Worthington stunned the limited crowd in attendance at the Ariake Urban Sports Park with her second run, however, pulling out a perfect execution of a trick never before seen in competition - the reverse 360 - before following up with mesmerising front flips and finishing with a flair.
The performance was duly rewarded with an incredible score of 97.50 from the judges, piling the pressure on Roberts as she made her return to the park for the second run.
That pressure did not take long to tell - and just 10 seconds into the run, a slip on the pedals saw the world champion concede defeat and settle for the silver.
Team GB now have an impressive tally of two golds and one silver from their three BMX events in Tokyo so far.
