Marcos Rojo: 'Argentina looking for payback'

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo says that Argentina "want payback" for their World Cup agony from the 2014 competition in Brazil.

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has said that Argentina "want payback" for their World Cup agony from the 2014 competition in Brazil.

Rojo was a part of the Argentina side that reached the final of the 2014 World Cup, only to suffer a 1-0 defeat to Germany courtesy of Mario Gotze's extra-time goal.

Argentina will open their 2018 World Cup campaign against Iceland on June 16, and Rojo is hopeful that his country will be able to go one better this summer.

"Obviously, it's a really important thing and a big deal for any Argentinian to wear that shirt," Rojo told Inside United. "We really feel the shirt a lot and we defend our colours.

"We really feel the shirt a lot and we defend our colours. We give everything when we are wearing it and we want payback for the way things happened at the last World Cup."

Argentina will also take on Croatia and Nigeria in the group stages of this summer's tournament.
